I had an afternoon trip to Sooner yesterday. We fought some pretty good wind and waves all day. It did not affect the fishing at all though. We ended up keeping 20 Hybrids and Stripers. When your sonar looks like this you are getting ready to get "Busy!!"

| Yeah, we had the Sirius rocking out the tunes yesterday with the Margaritaville Channel. I think the Hybrids liked it pretty good!! |

And there's those yellow arcs directly below the boat you taught me about. That is exactly what all fisherman dream of seeing on their locator cause you can already feel the bite before you even wet a line. Awesome Pics Steve. |

| Nice Steve!!! Did you all try do drop any slabs down to them. A couple weeks ago I did pretty good right near that area letting a slab hit the bottom while I was under fish and reeling like mad back up. They would just hammer the slabs! It was fun!! |

Reef, Yeah I tried 2oz. chartruse and white Prunepickers. I did not get a hit on it. I was amazed since they were hammering the Shad so viciously.

| Okiefishman, do you have any downscan screen shots similar to the 2d above that show a big school of fish? I've seen HB pics and am curious how they show up on the HDS units. |

Let me look, I just cleared out a bunch of shots from my unit and the card I keep screen shots on. If I don't I'll get some this week over on Sooner.

The first shot is with the boat sitting still, the second one is with the boat moving. |

It looks like the image is sharper when the boat is moving and fish are easier to see on downscan vs sidescan. I think the color in the 2D makes it easier/faster to distinguish fish, but I suspect that in time the structure scan will incorporate more color. With practice the downscan might be even be better at distinguishing fish, especially around brush.
Thanks for the pics, always appreciate help from someone as knowledgable as yourself. |

| Yes, the 2D color feature is better in open water. The downscan feature of the Structure Scan is best around cover. It just takes some getting used to. The side scan is best at locating structure. All together, with the mapping, it creates an awesome tool for locating fish. It greatly reduces the time spent fishing in unproductive water. |

| Steve, I night fished at keystone the other night with no luck but marked a lot of fish, proly sand bass. What I was amazed at is the Night sonar...almost looks infra red. I kept going back and forth between day and night and it appeared that in day mode the brightest (yellow) fish showed up bright white in the night mode, the orange fish showed up as opaque in night mode and the red fish showed up as shadows. I'd really like to play with night mode more cause with all that static and thermocline, night mode seemed to show the fish up much better. Have you played with night mode much and whats your take on it? |
