Sorry just saw this... What story do you want to hear? Datdanggadude was part of the story, so he could tell it as well as I could. His first time ever to go tubing. I had to tow him out. About the time we get out there I chunk a crankbait and - KA-CHOOGA... I set the hook and it feels like 1 1/2 to 2lb fish, then a tug or two... Then a lot of heavy weight like it was in the weeds. Line goes slack, I see a big boil in the water and a pig comes shooting out of the water. About clearing 12" from the water... At this point I'm yelling to my dad 50 yards away from us, "I've got a good one on! Dunno if I'll get her in on this light gear though". As you know the pond weeds up quite a bit in the warmer weather. So long story short, I messed up Datdanggadudes first tubing trip! Had to go back to weigh her and get pics of her and then release her. Before ODWC did work on the pond there were some REALLY nice bass in that pond. I don't know if they realized just how many big fish were in there. It was a litte gem down there that not many knew about. The lake was full of smaller bass, but put the time in and you could land a trophy. I think over time Dahlgren holds some of my fondest bass fishing memories. I've fished it a few times since it was lowered, but I haven't hooked into any nice bass. There are still crappie in there and a lot of sunfish. It has always been a decent sunfish lake. There were a few channel cats in the lake as well... Think about 8lbs is the largest channel I've landed out of it. But I've landed a larger one on another pond out in the WMA.
Or Datdanggadude, are you talking about that day you took your boat out there and I was tubing? LOL That fish was a bit smaller a little over 8lbs, but hit a subwart! Fun fish, because it threw a good wake up darting from a beaver channel to get the bait! Fun times!
