I'm out one Skiatook right now. Boat has ran great all spring. I'm going wide open across the lake when all of a sudden, the motor just throttles down to about 1500 rpm. It doesn't die one me. But it just won't go any faster than about 1500. If I put it in nuetral I can get 2000.

Any ideas???? Could it be the throttle cable? I'm not a mechanic AT ALL, so I'm clueless. as to what to do.

Check your fuel line. Should hold pressure. Other causes, may be a stator, power pack. Also typical if you use ethanol fuel.

Sounds like to me the motor is protecting itself. They will do that to keep you from getting stranded. They use very little oil at that rpm if its a 2 stroke.

Thanks guys.

It turned out to be an easy fix. I took the motor cover off. On the side, there was a little "L" shaped metal thing. It kind of sits in this little cradle looking piece. Well, the "L" shaped thing had popped out of its' cradle. Once I popped it back in, it ran again.

I hope my explanation wasn't too "technical" for you guys! Lol!!!
