Ive got a new tank and a new line. At mid to high RPM, I have to continuously pump the primer bulb for the engine to run. I have recently rebuilt the fuel pump which made no change. I cannot find where fuel or air may be leaking. the fuel system is quite simple in design and easy to access all parts. I have been chasing this problem for 2 months. Any suggestions?

Is your tank vented properly?

I know that's probably too easy...

It might be time for a carb rebuild...

I would have to say yes. It's brand new. I've tried with the cap off too. Same thing with the old tank. Carb was just rebuilt. I suspect I did something because this started after I did the carb. I'm very handy with things like this, but I may take it off and double check some things. Ugh, it's an hour getting the carb off. Thanks for the input

I know what you mean. I've had my dad's carbs off a half-dozen times. You know you've done it way too many times when you know all the tools that you need to pull out of the tool box before you get started...

While trying to diagnose my dad's similar issue, I found this procedure on-line that I used to eliminate everything from the gas tank to the engine.

To summarize, you just need a clear piece of vinyl hose to use temporarily while you see if there are any air bubbles in the fuel.

The only other thing that you'll need is a vacuum gauge that you can put in-line right before the motor. The details for what your vacuum readings should be are in that article.

Thanks. I have a manual that describes these steps. Where do you get a Vacuum Guage?

I bought mine at NAPA years ago.
