Twice my 1992 Mariner has died and been very hard to start after trolling for about 20 minutes. The first time was about a month ago and then it happened again today. The fuel was purchased in two different locations so I don't think it is a fuel problem. In between the two times the engine has run just fine. The first time I had the fuel filter cleaned and changed the fuel/water separator filter. Each time I have had to pump the fuel bulb then move the throttle to the cold start position. It was hard to get the engine started again but once started it ran just fine.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

could be an air leak in the fuel line was the bulb collapsed? or did it just lose prime

change the bulb, had this happen last year and it was a bad one. if that doesn't do it run a small can of gas with sea-foam mixed in it and see how it does

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking it may be the bulb. It wasn't collapsed but it was soft. I am running Lucas fuel treatment in the gas. I don't think it is a fuel problem since the first time it happened I had purchased fuel at Broken Bow and the second time I had filled up at the Osage Casino Travel Plaza in Skiatook.
