Hello all,  I got me a new toy and am needing to know from the experts on here what is the best way to set up my elite 7 hdi.  i would like to get into the basic settings, for I am new to this stuff.  Any tricks, tips, or info will help me out a lot.  I have gone through the setup wizard, but thats about it.  I am going to go play with it and the new xi5 pinpoint unit I got for christmas at skiatook lake tomorrow afternoon.  If you have them or know anything that would help me out, I would much appreciate it.  Thank you all in advance for your advice.

The auto settings are the best way to go with the Elite-7 HDI....then after you have had some time on the water with it, then you can start tweaking the settings to your liking.  The Elite-7 HDI and that Xi5 are great additions to any boat.

Thanks, That sounds like a plan.  One more question, anyone know of a quick way to turn down the brightness on the Elite7?  Was coming in after dark, and could hardly see where I was going cause of the bright light on that thing.  I still want to see the chart in unfamiliar territory, but would also like to see objects on the water in the moonlight.  I know how to get to it from the menu, but didn't know if there was an auto thing on it that would do it when the sun goes down.

If I remember correctly a quick push of the power button either toggles through the brightness settings, or brings up the brightness menu.
It is not something I change often and had to figure it out at dusk one time.

Warning though.... I turned down the brightness one evening, the next outing in the middle of the day it was so dim I could not see the screen to turn it back up.

Pushing the Power Button will bring up your screen brightness menu or you can quickly push the power button scroll through some pre-programed screen brightness levels.

Thank you very much guys.  Tyler, I will keep that in mind about turning it up before I put it away when I get home.

If you forget to turn it up before you put it away, after the unit comes up and you can't see the screen, quickly push the power button until the backlight is bright enough to see the screen.
