Not very often things work out as planned when fishing is involved but this evening I decided to drive over to Skiatook dam to see if any walleye are sniffing around there this year. Got there about 7:00PM - and found a parking spot - not many exist and hit the dam with the tactics taught me by Dan and Paul (head4fish). Caught a little largemouth first on a diving bait rapala ssr5 or something like that. Never hooked a walleye on the diving lures tonight but threw the jig that was still tied on from a Canton trip and bam a 16.5 inch fish hit. Called Hawker to find out what the length limit in Skiatook was (ignorant me) and then got him measured and released. I say him because I think the fish I was catching were males. Not spilling milt at this point but I was happy to catch 5 total by 9:00PM. All fish were shorts from 14-17 inches each. Did not get water temp as my quage needs new batteries. Did not have any more bites and stopped at 9:40. Pink or orange jig heads 1/4 oz and chartruese 3" grubs. Also used red body/chart tail. Caught some on both. There were 2 other fishermen out there when I got there but they had nothing to report. They were trying for sand bass/hybrids and left before too dark to see.
