I've been off the water for a bit now and I'm finally able to get back in swing. I just have to get into the groove and hopefully a few trips under my belt and I'll get a pattern figured out. A very bright moon awaited me this morning as I launched. It was cold also. Stayed in the Bay and messed around the lights for bait, not wanting to make that long, cold boat ride in the dark, to where I've been getting them. It took about half an hour but finally got a couple good throws to put me at 220 baits. All Threads and mostly smaller ones. Water temp. was 48-49 degrees today. Air temp at daylight was 32 with 22 wind chill. It stayed cold most of the morning. We head South to look at some deep river spots but none held the numbers of fish I was looking for, so we didn't bait up and headed North. Found fish at once and started drifting through them. Fish on... First fish was over 10lbs. the next one was a good box fish and the 3rd fish went over 9lbs. We drifted through that school for a couple of hours and then moved around, looking for more. Most places didn't hold fish but the spots that did, had them roaming through in pretty decent schools. Got our Stripers and then started catching Sandies that were holding right on the bottom. We stayed with those until we ran out of bait. Never dropped the anchor all morning. Slow drifts were the ticket. All on live bait and we never had a double going but good steady action. No bird action but we did count 4 Bald Eagles. It is suppose to be colder tomorrow.
